Riley had a death grip on the pokeball in his hand. Ever since he had left the lab, the ball containing his starter pokemon was in his hand, as if he was going to throw it at someone at any second. He started thinking about his past again as he walked down the route, trying to figure out what he was going to do to change it.
At this point in his life, he had abandoned his happy family for a life of doing evil deeds for some higher power. He had climbed the ladder towards the top, nearly becoming an executive officer for Team Rocket before he finally decided to quit the team and give their pokemon back to them -- even though he had grown rather close to them. He let out a small sigh as his thoughts continued to race a little. When he had quit the team, he didn't actually stick around to let them tell him no or to stop him at all. He sort of just ran off, not wanting to be seen again and went to Senko.
Chances were though, that Team Rocket would try to spread its venomous grasp to the seemingly pure region. Riley knew that, but he also knew the region had to have had some secrets hidden within it. He heard some talk about old legends through passing, but he didn't really pay too much attention as folklore never really interested him too much. Then again, who was to be sure it was folklore? What if there was some terrible curse that Senko had, and as such impending doom was to happen even without Team Rocket's influence? It didn't sit well with Riley at all.
What am I thinking... "Amulet Bearers" saving the region? I doubt there is such a thing in the first place... he thought with yet another sigh. At that exact moment, he managed to find a random twig that he just happened to trip over as well. He fell face first into the ground, letting his grip on the pokeball go, which allowed Cyn to come out of the ball when it tapped into the tree.
Riley looked to where the red flash had come and went, and saw a rather passive looking Cyndaquil in its place. He felt a small smile come across his lips before standing up again, rubbing his face a little before picking up the pokemon and holding it close to him. The pokemon didn't squirm at all and welcomed the attention its new trainer was giving it.
"I will change. Even if change is difficult, I will do so. For the sake of myself. It'll be tough, but hopefully I won't fall to any stupid temptations," the boy said to no one in particular.

A few meters away, footsteps marching could be heard. At a distance, they look like shadows, but finer details show the cliché Team Rocket grunt, hundreds of them nonetheless. Some of them carrying boxes, others dragging knocked out Pokémon behind them, since grunts never carry spare pokéballs.
Above them, in the trees, a young woman hovered above them. She had a bob cut, and her black hair had a tint of beige in the sunlight. Her eyes carry a soulless blue color, but her pupils were different. Catlike.
“Dumbasses, I told you no Pokémon!” Keko screamed over them. “How the fuck are we supposed to get there by sunset if you don’t even obey a simple command? Should I kick your asses now, or let Daddy handle you?!” Her screams shot fear through the route, Pidgeys and Beedrills flew away, and a few land Pokémon ran.

Riley squinted to the distance to see what was heading toward where he was. His eyes widened some as he realized that it was a bunch of people who looked like they were working for Team Rocket. The boy pulled the Cyndaquil's pokeball up and returned the pokemon to the small orb before putting it away. That's when he heard Keko's shrill scream overhead and he froze completely.
... I should have realized it... That was Keko's sister at the lab a while ago... Riley thought, panicking a little in his mind. He didn't want to be found by Team Rocket at all, let alone by the daughter of their leader. He tried to find a spot to hide, but realized it probably wouldn't have helped him any since they were in the area anyway.
All he could really do was wait and see what would happen.

The last few grunts walked past Keko's tree. Keko dropped from her branch, fully exposing herself. She wore a skin-tight black dress that had no sleeves, along knee high, black boots. Anyone seeing Keko alongside her younger sister knew they were sisters, and could have mistaken them for the other. Except the younger one was a couple of inches shorter and had longer hair.
Keko popped her knuckles and started walking down the route, when a grunt stopped and asked what they should do. "Keep walking. I'll catch up easily." Keko commanded. "I'm scouting the area. Take out anyone who sees us. I'm not ready to be seen in the region." The grunt nodded and ran back to the group.
When the grunts were gone, Keko walked towards Riley. "Come out, I know someone is there!" Keko yelled out to the direction of Riley.

"Come out, I know someone is there!"
Riley cringed at the sound of her voice. He knew he couldn't hide anywhere, but the fact that he was in plain sight and she didn't find him yet gave him some comfort. He continued to just stand there, numb at the fact Keko was going to find him soon, knowing that she was going to try and get him to join Team Rocket again. He sighed sadly to himself, pushing the negative thoughts to the back of his mind.
You know you aren't going to do that again.
Those words he tried to comfort himself with didn't help any. Riley was honestly scared of what was going to happen. Then again, if she did make an offer to him, doesn't that mean he was desired by Team Rocket? Maybe he could use that to his advantage at some point in time. He started thinking about possibilities if she did decide to try and take him back under their wing. He could, potentially, cause some major problems if his true intentions weren't caught. He smiled slyly to himself as he started coming up with his own plan, losing it as fast as possible in case Keko were to round the corner at any moment.
Now I just need to be convincing, which isn't too hard for me... As well as waiting for her to actually show up... the boy thought, feeling much more comfortable about the situation than he was moments ago.

Keko followed his scent, an uncanny ability of hers. It only took a minute for her to rush to Riley. Her face in his, her almost colorless eyes locked onto his. She had blood red lipstick on, to match her red TR on her dress. A sly smile appeared on her lips. "Ah... Riley," She murmured, as though she were plotting a way to kill him.
"Many things are going through your head right now." Keko affirmed. "Yes, we are here." She took half a step closer, her nose almost touching his. "But. We don't want a traitor."
Keko braced herself, in case of an attack. "You have two options. I can let you go, as a repayment for all the work you did for my father, or you can fight for your life." She lowered herself, in a defensive stance, "Choose wisely."

Riley smirked a little. A traitor? He wasn't really a traitor, he just didn't want to work for Team Rocket anymore. He just looked into Keko's eyes for a little bit longer, trying to figure out his next move for a second while trying to come up with the best possible solution. She was going to let him go, or she was going to fight him? It didn't make much sense to him, only because he was a valued member of Team Rocket when he was cooperating with him. Why she didn't try to take him back to their side, he wouldn't know, but he already knew what he had in mind when he was given the options.
"I was a traitor?" the boy asked, forcing back a laugh. "Not really. I saw the opportunity to come to this region and I took it. It also meant leaving behind Team Rocket because, how can I say this?" Riley put a finger to his lip, tapping on it in a thinking motion. "Chances were, they were going to hold me back. I wouldn't have had the opportunity to come here, and I wouldn't be able to do what I needed to do here. Which, might I add, has nothing to do with you."
He smirked to himself some more. He was going to try and back the girl into wanting to take him back, but how was the question. He didn't fully know exactly how he could go about it, but he knew that he could do so somehow. "For all you know, I'm here for the same exact reason you are. I could be trying to cause this region to fall. Your father never saw my potential to possibly bring about the downfall of a region by myself, and as such, I decided I'd come here myself and do things my way." He stopped himself from continuing. He thought about what he had said for a moment, realizing that the comments he just said might have just made it impossible for him to be desired by Keko to take him under their wing so he could figure out what they were doing. His smirk faded, looking at the girl seriously for a second.
"Of course, the distinct lack of a group of followers on my part, and your probably large group of followers makes it so I couldn't possibly follow through with my plans now. What a shame. And I knew exactly what needed to happen in order to prevent the region from being able to stop me too." Riley stated without blinking at all. He let out a soft sigh and started to turn around. "Oh well, I guess I'll be on my way."

Keko went into front of him and eyes flashed red, it seemed. Her hair was blowing in the breeze, which seemed to annoy Keko even further. "You are a traitor because you quit. You know information. Don't expect a friendly chit chat next time."
She took a step behind Riley, where she had originally came from, and continued to talk. "As for a group of people behind me, I can take down a whole god damned region without help. So don't flatter yourself." And she vanished into the trees.
As silence fell, a few pokémon timidly returned to their homes. A few seemed angry, one Snubbull froze up when it saw Riley. A human. An other one of the kind and scared it. It braced itself, and the Snubbull launched a Tackle towards Riley.

Riley smirked to himself, almost wanting to laugh. Yeah, and with such information, I could actually take down Team Rocket by myself. Too bad I made a promise to her father to not reveal the information I have. She doesn't even fully understand the depth of what's going on. he thought, looking to the ground and shuffling his feet a little. There was a lot of information Riley had acquired through his stay with Team Rocket. He took pride in everything that he did, but his ability to gather every bit of information possible was his best talent that he could offer to Team Rocket.
So well, in fact, that Giovanni was afraid that he'd lose his leadership position if Riley had decided to stay. Keko obviously didn't know that -- her father didn't usually show nor tell his fear to anyone around him, but Riley knew. That's why Riley had left Team Rocket in the first place, he didn't want to become a leader. Which, brings us back to the promise he made to the man in the first place; which was to never give the information he had to other people. If Riley wanted to, he'd just do everything he needed to himself. Now those amulets he was hearing so much about... He was definitely curious about those.
He lost his time to think when the Snubbull had collided with his side, sending him stumbling over and falling onto his hip. The boy let out a pained yelp, glancing over to the pokemon before sighing a little. Today wasn't his day, was it? First Keko being mad at him, now this pokemon? What'd he do to get on everyone's bad side? Oh, right, he was a smartass. He stood up quickly and dusted himself off before grabbing Cyn's pokeball and tossing it out.
"Go Cyn! Use Tackle!" Riley called out. In a red flash, the small, timid pokemon had appeared. The Cyndaquil nodded to the trainer when it heard the order, rushing toward the Snubbull in a full on Tackle.

The Snubbull's Tackle was hit head on with Cyndaquil's Tackle, making the Snubbull to loose its balance for a split second. It followed up the lost balance with a Tail Whip. It stood there for another split second after the Tail Whip and attempted a second Tackle at the Cyndaquil.

Riley watched the Snubbull do some awkward little dance as it used Tail Whip and simply chuckled a little at the Pokemon. Why it could learn Tail Whip, was beyond him, but it was pretty funny to watch. He got so distracted by this though, that he let his Cyndaquil get hit by the new tackle attack. He bit his lower lip to keep himself from laughing even more so he could control the battle a little better.
"Cyn, use tackle again!" Riley called out to the small fire pokemon. Cyn nodded to the trainer again, this time going around to the Snubbull's side before running at it for a tackle.

The tackle hit Snubbull, but it just infuriated the Snubbull even more. It flew a few feet, and stood back up. It wiggled once more to do Tail Whip, and then braced itself for another tackle. Its body shook in rage until finally it shot towards Cyndaquil with the second Tackle.

After watching the Snubbull do its little dance once again, Riley was starting to have a hard time keeping himself composed. He managed to hide that from his pokemon though, and kept the laughing he wanted to do at bay. Nonetheless, it was funny to watch the small pink pokemon do such a thing when it was actually doing an attack. Cyndaquil got hit by the tackle the other pokemon had used though, and Riley stopped letting himself get distracted by the silliness of a pokemon knowing tail whip when its tail was so tiny.
"Cyn, use growl, then use a tackle again!" Riley called out. If the Snubbull was going to lower Cyn's defense, then he needed to lower the attack of the other pokemon. Cyn used growl, though it sounded more like a squeak than anything, which only added to Riley's wanting to laugh, then chased after the Snubbull with it's own tackle once again.

The Snubbull took the Tackle straight on its Tackle, making it dizzy. It couldn't handle trying to to fight for the moment, its world was doing a 360 around it. The Snubbull wobbled behind a bush so it could compose itself without worry. It only needed a few seconds before the Snubbull shot out of the bush with another Tackle. It was obviously beaten up, tired, and sore, but it wasn't giving up without a fight.

"We don't need a traitor."
For some reason, those words decided to echo in Riley's head for no reason whatsoever. He got completely distracted, Cyn getting hit by the tackle because of it. Cyn looked back to his trainer, seeing a blank expression on the teen's face and was curious as to why his trainer suddenly stopped giving him orders. Riley's thoughts were starting to race, suddenly not even interested in the battle that was going on in front of him. That's when Cyn let out a high pitched "Cyn!" to make the trainer snap out of it. Riley looked to the two small pokemon, realizing that his mind was messing with him while he was trying to focus.
"Cyn, tackle again," Riley stated with a lot less enthusiasm in his voice. The small pokemon, though worried about his trainer, nodded in response. It threw in a growl before it went in to tackle the pink pokemon once again.

The Snubbull took the hit to the stomach, but it clung Cyn's body, which was a bad move. The fire on the back of Cyn's body ignited the skin of the Snubbull, sending it flying from Cyn, and into the dirt. The Snubbull panicked and did the ever-so-familiar "Stop-drop-n-roll." It finally stopped rolling and stood back up, weaker than it has ever been in the battle. It wobbled for a moment, and then finally fell, fainting.
What will Riley do?
